Electrical Engineering Lead

This role is for a well-funded electric aviation startup championing work-life balance, autonomy and a safety first product. This lead will work closely with mechanical, software, and other cross-functional leads to oversee the electrical architecture of an all-electric VTOL aircraft, including but not limited to high-voltage powertrain systems, low-voltage electronics, and high-speed data transmission. Directing teams to optimize designs for reliability, weight, efficiency, and certification.

Job Objectives

  • Exercise demonstrated track record in designing complex electrical systems on safety critical vehicles.
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and other leads to oversee the electrical architecture of an all-electric VTOL aircraft, including but not limited to high-voltage powertrain systems, low-voltage electronics, and high-speed data transmission.
  • Directing teams to optimize designs for reliability, weight, efficiency, and certification.
  • Oversee the design, development and execution of the aircraft’s electrical systems.
  • Own the requirements for the aircraft’s electrical architecture for FAA certification.
  • Collaborate with various company departments to ensure equipment and low-level designs meet all system and aircraft-level requirements.

Must Haves

  • Deep understanding of RTCA DO-160 and practical design guidelines for meeting required environmental qualification levels for airborne electrical hardware.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers to bring a piece of electrical hardware from concept through the design assurance and certification process (DAL, ASIL, SIL).
  • B.S./M.S./PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
