FPGA Engineer

This role will be to join a highly collaborative, hardware engineering team focused on FPGA/ASIC design. This position is for a well-funded electric aviation startup championing work-life balance, autonomy and a safety first product. In this hands-on position you will utilize your expertise in FPGA design and writing, ASIC bring-up, C/C++ programming and algorithmic solution development for improved data coordination between processors and sensors.

Job Objectives

  • Build and implement features across company hardware stack, including high speed data transfer and DSP
  • Work in coordination with embedded software engineers, other ASIC/FPGA designers, and organizational leaders
  • Drive relationships and coordinate with vendors for timely, effective product development
  • Bring up new hardware and solve algorithmic problems to increase data coordination between processors and sensors

Required Experience

  • Strong experience in ASIC or FPGA design in VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog
  • C and/or C++ programming expertise
  • Expert in embedded Linux (e.g. high speed DMA, hardware APIs, interrupt handling)
  • Background in Hardware/Software co-design and verification
  • Automotive or aviation applications SEU mitigation experience
  • Background with processor architecture and communications protocols (e.g., AXI, I2C, UART, SPI, ethernet)
  • B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in relevant discipline (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Mathematics, or similar field; or portfolio of designed and utilized FPGA/ASIC projects)

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with DO-254 FPGA Compliance
  • Expertise in FPGA platform development for power conversion, safety-critical applications and motion control
  • Xilinx FPGAs (Zynq, Artix) and Vivado toolchain experience
