Opportunity: The above client is looking for a Lead Mechanical/Thermal Engineer to join their team designing products that optimize battery and power electronics systems

Requirements: Strong thermal analysis fundamentals, with the ability to evaluate the thermal capability of the battery designs



The right individual for this role will take ownership of the thermal design process from concept through modeling, part design, prototype/test, and high volume manufacture. This is a hands-on position that will require working cross-functionally with teams such as electrical, mechanical, and system engineers to create the most compelling product offering in terms of specification, performance, and cost. Strong multi-tasking skills is key for success in this fast-paced environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Come up with concepts for cooling and heating
  • Perform feasibility analysis with hand calculations
  • Use FEA and CFD as appropriate to optimize your design
  • Test prototypes
  • Implement your design for high-volume manufacturing

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of thermal analysis experience with a focus on battery management systems (BMS) and power electronics
  • Demonstrated success solving complicated thermal problems
  • Strong CAD skills, ability to use FEA and CFD appropriately to solve thermal problems, GD&T
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

Preferred Experience

  • At least 1 complete product cycle of bringing a product to market, ideally in mid to high volume
  • Experience designing for one or more high volume manufacturing processes
  • Experience using Onshape CAD software
  • Familiarity with UL Standards including 1973 and 9540
