Power Electronics Engineer

This role will be to join a highly collaborative team focused on electric aircraft design. This position is for a well-funded startup championing work-life balance, autonomy and a safety first product. In this hands-on position you will utilize your expertise in DO-160 compliance and work cross functionally with both the mechanical and software teams to design an efficient, low-weight and reliable motor-control inverter.

Job Objectives

  • Knowledge with design and specifications for optimal subsystem layout & interactions within the powertrain
  • Determine team roadmap pushing strategic innovation while meeting near-term goals
  • Write requirements, participate in DFMEAs, create and carry out test and validation plans
  • Lead design review capability through every stage of the development process, ensure high standard of work output
  • Perform design engineering contribution simultaneous with leading the team

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with EE fundamentals, including familiarity with: Power conversion, Signal conditioning and conversion (ADCs, filters), Discrete semiconductor design (FETs, BJTs, Diodes)
  • Experience with: + schematic capture, + PCB design, + component selection, + Altium Designer, + battery systems
  • Designed, built & tested high voltage and power designs
  • Exposure to regulatory certification
  • Design-for-reliability, including use of DFMEAs and fault trees + high EMI environments
  • B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in relevant discipline with a focus in power electronics
